Dr. Jennifer Wayne (OBL at UCSD) has been selected as the 2019 recipient of the most prestigious ASME H.R. Lissner Medal. The ASME recognizes Dr. Wayne for her achievements of developing new computational tools to gain better understanding the biomechanics of joints and effects of injuries as well as evaluating surgical procedures; for training of medical and bioengineering professionals; and for meritorious leadership and service to the Bioengineering Division of ASME. She received her medal at the SB3C (June 25-28, 2019) at the Seven Springs Resorts, PA.
It is worth noting that Dr. Wayne had so ably and admirably served as the first woman Chair of the Bioengineering Division. Now, she has once again, “broken the glass ceiling” as the first woman to be bestowed the Lissner medal (BTW, the medal was established in 1977 and has been awarded annually).
