New Chairman at the University of the Ryukyus

Congratulations to Dr. Kotaro Nishida, a form Post-Doctoral Fellow at the MSRC, who was recently appointed Chief Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The appointment was effective July 1, 2019. In addition to few spine surgeons in Okinawa and many patients suffering from spinal diseases, Dr. Nishida attributes his appointment partially to his experience in Pittsburgh.

Okinawa is an island located at the southern tip of Japan with a population of 1.43 million, which is comparable to that of Kobe. Okinawa is also one of the world’s leading tourist destinations surround by beautiful nature and the sea. It is becoming a more popular resort area than Hawaii for tourists.
