Three former MSRC Post-Doctoral Research fellows were recently co-authors on an article in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders titled “Prevalence of Segond associated with anterior cruciate ligament injuries and their influence on knee joint stability; A case-control study”. Drs. Yuji Yamamto, Eiichi Tsuda and Yasayuki Ishibashi are all faculty members in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine in Hirosaki, Japan. Their case-control study led to the conclusion that Segond fractures did not affect the clinical outcomes of the primary ACL reconstruction and that it may not be necessary to treat Segond fractures.
