We are thrilled to announce that two of our distinguished alumni, Matthew B. Fisher, Ph.D., and Steven D. Abramowitch, Ph.D., have been inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows.

Election to the College of Fellows is one of the highest professional honors in the field, representing the top two percent of medical and biological engineers.

Dr. Matthew Fisher

Dr. Matthew Fisher, Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to musculoskeletal biomechanics, tissue engineering, and leadership in graduate education.

Dr. Steven Abramowitch

Dr. Steven Abramowitch, John A. Swanson Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, was honored for his pioneering research in biomechanics and clinical translation to transform women’s pelvic health.

Both were formally inducted during the AIMBE Annual Event in Arlington, Virginia, on April 13, 2026. Please join us in congratulating Matt and Steve on this incredible achievement!
