Dr. Woo Named Inaugural Recipient of WACBE Yuan-Cheng Fung Lifetime Achievement Award

We are pleased to share the wonderful news that Dr. Woo has been honored by the World Association for Chinese Biomedical Engineers (WACBE) – an organization of which he was the Founding President – with the prestigious inaugural WACBE Yuan-Cheng (Y. C.) Fung Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Yuan-Cheng Fung Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor of WACBE, recognizing extraordinary lifetime achievements with transformative impact on biomedical engineering and society with groundbreaking, long-term contributions, global impact through research, education, leadership, or translation, and a legacy of shaping the field and inspiring future generations.

As the highest honor bestowed by WACBE, this award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary, long-term contributions with a transformative impact on the field of biomedical engineering and society. Dr. Woo is being recognized for his “decades of seminal contributions, institution building, and dedicated service” that have both advanced scientific knowledge and inspired generations of researchers worldwide.

The award will be formally presented at the 12th WACBE World Congress of Bioengineering, held in Changzhou, China, from July 28-31, 2026.
